Crispy Lollipop Chicken

Ingredients:

  • 5 chicken drumsticks (lollipop style) 
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder 
  • 1 tsp ginger powder 
  • 1 tsp onion powder 
  • 1 tbsp paprika 
  • 2 eggs, whisked 
  • All-purpose flour 
  • Salt and pepper, to taste 
  • 5 wonton wrappers 
  • Oil for deep frying 
  • Barbecue sauce, for dipping 

Instructions:

  1. If your drumsticks aren’t prepped lollipop-style, push the meat and skin down toward the thick end of the bone to form a “lollipop” shape. 
  2. In a bowl, season the chicken with garlic powder, ginger powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Let it marinate for 20–30 minutes. 
  3. While the chicken marinates, heat oil in a deep fryer or heavy pot to 350°F–375°F. 
  4. Dredge each drumstick in flour, then dip into the whisked eggs. 
  5. Cut the wonton wrappers into thin strips and wrap them around the drumstick ends for a crispy crunch. 
  6. Carefully deep-fry the chicken until golden and the internal temperature reaches 165°F. 
  7. Remove and let rest for a couple of minutes before serving. 
  8. Serve with your favorite barbecue sauce and enjoy!
