Cucumber Steamed Fish

Ingredients

  • 1 English cucumber
  • 1 cod fillet
  • 1-inch ginger, sliced
  • 2 scallions
  • 1 red chili
  • 3 tbsp hot oil
  • 3 tbsp light soy sauce
  • Water for steaming

Instructions

  1. Slice the cucumber in an accordion style using chopsticks as a guide to prevent cutting all the way through. Leave both ends longer to create a “head” and “tail” for a snake shape. Attach eyes using rice grains and a tongue using a thin strip of red chili for a fun touch.
  2. Lay the white parts of the scallions on a steaming tray, place the cod on top, and add sliced ginger over the fish.
  3. Arrange the cucumber around the fish, cover, and steam for 10-12 minutes.
  4. Transfer the fish and cucumber to a plate and top the fish with julienned scallions and red chili. – Drizzle hot oil over the top, followed by soy sauce.
