Ingredients
- 2 egg tofu tubes
- 5 imitation crab sticks, chopped
- ¼ cup potato starch
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Cooking oil
Sauce
- 1 shallot, finely chopped
- 2 tablespoons garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fish sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon kefir lime leaves, finely sliced (optional)
- 1 tablespoon lemon or yuzu juice
- ¼ cup water
Instructions
- In a bowl, gently mash the egg tofu until mostly smooth. Add the chopped imitation crab, potato starch, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
- Prepare the sauce: heat a small pan over medium heat and sauté the shallot and garlic until fragrant. Stir in the fish sauce, chili sauce, brown sugar, kefir lime leaves (if using), lemon or yuzu juice, and water. Let it simmer until slightly reduced, then set aside.
- Heat a pan over medium-high heat with enough oil for shallow frying. Once hot, scoop the tofu mixture into the pan and shape into patties. Fry until golden brown and crispy on both sides.
- Drizzle the sauce over the patties or toss them in the sauce for extra flavor. Serve with rice or lettuce wraps for a fresh, satisfying bite. Enjoy!
