In-N-Out Taco Burger

Ingredients:

  • 4 small flour tortillas
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 4 slices American cheese
  • 4 pieces iceberg lettuce
  • 1 tomato, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 4 jalapeños, sliced
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Homemade thousand island sauce or burger sauce

Instructions:

  1. Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions. Press each portion evenly onto a flour tortilla, spreading the meat into a thin layer all the way to the edges. Season with salt and black pepper.
  2. Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Place the tortilla beef-side down onto the pan and press firmly for a few seconds to create a crispy smashed burger crust.
  3. Cook for 3–4 minutes until the beef is browned and crispy around the edges. Flip the tortilla over, add a slice of American cheese on top of the beef, and continue cooking for another 1–2 minutes until the tortilla is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted.
  4. In the same pan, grill the onions and jalapeños until lightly charred and softened.
  5. Top each taco burger with iceberg lettuce, tomato slices, grilled onions, grilled jalapeños, and homemade thousand island sauce or burger sauce.
  6. Fold like a taco and serve immediately while hot, crispy, and cheesy.
