Ingredients:
- 4 small flour tortillas
- 1 lb ground beef
- 4 slices American cheese
- 4 pieces iceberg lettuce
- 1 tomato, sliced
- 1 onion, sliced
- 4 jalapeños, sliced
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Homemade thousand island sauce or burger sauce
Instructions:
- Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions. Press each portion evenly onto a flour tortilla, spreading the meat into a thin layer all the way to the edges. Season with salt and black pepper.
- Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat. Place the tortilla beef-side down onto the pan and press firmly for a few seconds to create a crispy smashed burger crust.
- Cook for 3–4 minutes until the beef is browned and crispy around the edges. Flip the tortilla over, add a slice of American cheese on top of the beef, and continue cooking for another 1–2 minutes until the tortilla is golden and crispy and the cheese is melted.
- In the same pan, grill the onions and jalapeños until lightly charred and softened.
- Top each taco burger with iceberg lettuce, tomato slices, grilled onions, grilled jalapeños, and homemade thousand island sauce or burger sauce.
- Fold like a taco and serve immediately while hot, crispy, and cheesy.
