Savory Rice Cake

Ingredients

  • Rice cakes (kiri mochi)
  • Salt
  • Crunchy garlic
  • Star anise, cinnamon stick, ginger, clove, cardamom pod
  • Ground roasted peanuts
  • Chili oil
  • Crumbled feta cheese
  • Neutral oil
  • Scallions (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Roast rice cakes over a flame until they split. For extra crunch, continue roasting slightly longer.
  2. Toast star anise, cinnamon stick, ginger, clove, and cardamom in a pan. Pour hot oil over the spices to infuse.
  3. Season the roasted rice cakes with salt, five-spice oil, crunchy garlic, ground peanuts, chili oil, and crumbled feta. Garnish with scallions and enjoy!
